Hey, guys! Thanks to those of you who came out to support us, the Sound Bridge Project as well as Small Life on Sunday night at Flipnotics. We had a fantastic time all thanks to you! There was great music all around and some celebrating of our fabulous Kristine’s Birthday:

I bet you want some coffee right now. And I bet you’ll want it on Sunday, November 10, too! Just because we love you, you should come to Flipnotics this upcoming Sunday for some coffee AND WE’LL TOTALLY PLAY FOR YOU. Seriously. Just for you. Bach, Telemann, crazyness. You’ll love it, I promise.

Not only that, but it’s Kristine’s Birthday!! Now you HAVE to come, because if you don’t, she’ll cry. And she cannot cry on her Birthday, even if she wants to.

So come out to Flipnotics Coffeespace & Cafe on Barton Springs Road for some delicious caffeine and – let’s be honest – super duper awesome classical flute music. Can you really say no to all of this? I don’t think so.

AFP at the Russian House, part два (two!)

We had such a great time at the Russian House of Austin that we’re going back to play on November 7, 2013! In fact, we’ll be performing there every first Thursday of the month from 8-11 PM. This time Kristine, Bryan, and Lauryn will play some sweet trios and duets without Marcela. (Marcela has to work a fancy dinner at UT!) John Carbin will also join and play cello, which will give us a nice bass sound that we oh-so-love! The Fountainhead Ensemble will play this gig with us, too!

To encourage your attendance, we’d like to point out that there are TONS of infused vodkas and delicious food there, as well as SUPER SWEET Russian costumes that you can wear while you munch on some Russian yummies and listen to some sweet AFP & Fountainhead music. So come on, Comrade – join us at the Russian House!

Shh…This Show’s a Secret!

Every year, there is a super secret show in Austin where only the most awesome and silly musicians play. The location is kept secret until the last possible moment.

This year, AFP will be playing the super secret show as part of the Sound Bridge Project. It starts at 9 PM…and the not-so-secret location is (drum roll please)… Lou Neff Point in the hike-and-bike trail at Zilker Park! Here is a map to help all of you get there.

Ghost

And what music will everyone be playing, pray tell?? We are so glad you asked! Here’s the nitty gritty:

A classical secret show with many amazing instruments…

Austin Flute Project
Kristine Reaume
Josh Moody
The Sound Bridge Project Ensemble

Concerto for a Ghost and Lou’s Flute Quartet
Both brand new pieces by our own Jeff Luna
Sally’s Song by Danny Elfman
Honami by Wil Offermans
Mai by Ryo Noda
Claude Debussy’s Syrinx arranged for four flutes by Bryan Kennard (in honor of the piece’s 100th birthday Nov. 2013)

Check out the Secret Show’s Facebook Page for more info. We hope to see you there!

AFP on the Radio

This is a very busy week for AFP, and it all kicked off with a radio performance and interview at UT Austin’s KVRX 91.7 FM. We played Bryan’s arrangement of Syrinx for flute quartet (3 C flutes and alto flute), and Lauryn spoke about AFP as part of the Soundbridge Project. We’ll update this post soon with a link to the archived show file.

Thanks to the folks at KVRX for having us over – we had a blast! Below are some pics from our fun time in the studio.
